Over Xmas my son and I made the most of the hot summer weather and spent some time fishing for rainbow trout on Lake Taupo and hunting for deer in the nearby hills. For me it’s now time to target stags as the are hard antler now.

I didn’t see any shooter stags so took a yearling for the BBQ. 248 yard neck shot with no meat wasted!

The fishing was great with 16 taken over a couple of days.

Heading down to the South Island high country to look for stags next week.

Good stuff mate, been doing the same here. My brother took a nice velvet red last weekend, haven't had any luck myself yet. Keen to hear how you go.

NZ is such a beautiful place, really should get back this year or next. Love to get a nice chamois.

That is a great looking pile of fish should make for a good surf n turf BBQ.
