First time Rifle Elk Hunt Nov 4th -- Nov 8th Avon, MT

I'm going on my first Elk hunt in Avon, MT Nov 4th--Nov 8th. Never been Elk hunting before in my life. Been a avid whitetail hunter all my life. I'm using a Winchester Model 70 .280 Remington with 165 grain Core Lokts. Any tips would be appreciated.

Also it is Unit 215 on a private ranch.

Shoot 'em behind the shoulder, about 1/3rd to mid way up. Keep shooting until they fall.

Finding elk is (more than) half the battle.

In that case, trust the guys running the ranch.

Be prepared for all sorts of weather during that time. It can either be zero degrees and snowing, 50 degrees, or 75 degrees and sunny.

If you haven't already make sure you're feet and boots match and that you've been wearing them

Tons of elk in that area, and depends on the ranch. Core-loks will do the trick.
