My brothers and I just returned from our first African hunting safari that I had the winning bid on at an RMEF banquet. We hunted out of Kimberley, South Africa , everyone got the game they were after. The weather was quite cold, even snowing one day and the landscape was an arid plain. It was great fun although for now once is enough for me. I know some people get Africa in the blood, but I prefer hunting in the states better as I like being my own guide and the animals seem to be in a more natural setting. The bullet pictured is a 150 grain nosler partition recovered from the wildebeest at 150 yes. The 2 guns we used were both 270 winchesters and all animals were one shot kills except for one of the gems buck. Our group in total got 3 gemsbuck, a kudu, a wildebeest, 2 impala and 2 warthogs.

Congrats on a successful hunt, very nice. I would love to get the opportunity to hunt Africa sometime.

Nice animals, and glad you had a good hunt! I went to South Africa eight years ago, had a great time, and my wife loved it. My only disappointment was that I didn't get a kudu--saw a hell of a bull the first morning, sun was in my scope and couldn't get a shot. Hunted for him for three more days but never saw him again. I'd love to go back but don't know if I could handle that 20-hour plane ride anymore.

Yea, that ride is brutal. I caught a helluva cold afterwards from it. I also forgot to mention my cousin got an ostrich over there too. Pretty tasty and a damn big bird. No of us could lift it solo.

Nice looking animals. Certainly Africa has a lot to offer and it is a great experience. Some of the game tastes amazing, especially cooked up around the fire with a cold beer in hand. Well done.

Amanda is an excellent PH. Is she still with Huntersgame Safaris? BTW, she is a very good PH as I have had that opportunity to be guided by her and she is a heck of a chef. Not bad on the eyes for that matter. MTG

Here's the pics of the pig and ostrich. Amanda was an awesome guide, very skilled eyes and excellent at stalking. She was hunting with White Lion Safaris as it was Ricus de Villiers who donated the trip although the actual place we were hunting at was Liam Urry Safaris out of Kimberley.

Nice critters Josh. Africa is in my blood for sure. When we are old men and retired we can go on a safari together and get some Cape Buffalo in the Selous.

Congrats on a great safari! Those are some beautiful animals you guys got! Although I love hunting North American big game! I am one of those guys that went over last year and is surely hooked. My return trip is this coming April. The grey ghost eluded me as he does many hunters. I saw several good bulls but just couldn't seal the deal. Maybe next time or the time after! Thanks for sharing!
