Finding the cows

Hey y'all! Looking to take my 8 year old son on his 1st cow elk hunt Oct 22-31 in Idaho.

Not looking for anyone's honey hole... but rather, looking for tips on how to find the cows. There is plenty of info on finding bulls post rut... but I'm hoping to get a few tips to help make it a great hunt for him by harvesting a cow.

Food, water, cover. After the run, their main objective is putting on fat to make it through winter. Find where there is good food and water, with cover nearby and you'll find the cows.

Read the sign, it will take you to the large herds.
Sometimes driving the road and looking for crossings is all it takes.
