Hello,
I’ve noticed this past week or so that the fawn twins that frequent our yard have (I think?) really bad diarrhea.
Their rump and all down the insides of their legs are covered.

Any idea what causes this? Is it normal? Fatal?

I tried google but got a lot of generic info. I don’t know if an neighbors are feeding them. They definitely seem like they are smaller than most other fawns around, so maybe mom was bred in a second cycle.

Did you have a green up? Transition is hard on the gut. That’s why the deer die in the spring when they made it through the worst of it.

I’ve seen that before during EHD outbreaks. Are they alone, or is there a doe around? If you are seeing fawns with no does, that’s typically an EHD red flag as well.
I second this. One of the first things I see when EHD hits is bewildered fawns near the river. Next is a big increase of coyotes on the river followed by lots of coyote scat full of deer hair.
