As long as there is stiff criminal penalties for frivolous reporting. Otherwise it will look like this.
1. This is Jane
2. Jane is psychotic twat and Randy got tired of dealing with it and broke up with her.
3. Jane called the cops with frivolous allegations that randy threatened her and others with violence.
4.The police petition in court to remove Randy's guns. Randy isn't present at such hearing to defend himself.
5. The judge grants the temporary confiscation of Randy's guns.
6. Randy has to go to court and spend time and money getting a fundamental right restored.
Now if there is a #7 where Jane goes to jail for a long time and has to make licence plates at 10 cents an hour until she has paid back Randy's court fees, lost wages, and restitution for emotional turmoil I wouldn't mind the story so much.
