I was able to bring my handicap dad on my first sheep hunt in the Missouri Breaks. We did a 30 mile float in a little John boat. The roads dried up just in time and the rain held off just long enough to get out.

Ewe or billy the hunt is the same.
We have got several ewe tags there and we filled them all by boat. Congrats, job well done.

Was a jon boat needed because of river levels? Or could a guy do it with a regular boat?

You cant use a powerboat from mid-may ( i think) to September first.
By hunting season you will need a small Jon, jet, or mud boat to go very far in the brakes, low water, rocks, and mud bars just under the water.

Nice work! That is a fun hunt that I have done a few times. Just helped my buddy fill his ewe tag over there last weekend.
