Onx has a new live tracking feature that updates the position every 5 seconds with members of your group. I can see all the benefits for safety but can see the potential for negative abuse. Would you consider this ethical? Knowing your states communication laws while hunting do you think it is legal?

Is it any different than weird parents tracking their kids location? What “negative abuse” are you suggesting? Are there any positive abuse situations?

Maybe I was barking up the wrong tree or maybe I was tired of all the political phone calls and text messages I have been getting or maybe Im mad because I cant contribute much of a hunting story this year, yet.

Like kid tracking apps I can see the positive and in most cases they outweigh the negative with OnX tracking. But where there is a will there is a way and people have an uncanny way of using even the best intended actions for self gain. The negative implications of thermal drones or thermal scopes are a lot more obvious to me but the way this technology is advancing faster than anyone can comprehend where are we going to stop?

Yes, I consider it unethical and illegal to use to kill an animal based on Montana's regulations regarding electronic communication devices. It's the exact same as FindYourFriends though. How a Game Warden could ever prove this seems hard to fathom though.

I can understand the hesitation toward the idea of advancing technology and the potential ethical dilemma. My first reaction was it would be used as a safety feature but can imagine those with less-than-ideal intentions would find a way to use it nefariously.

Iowa's regulation book says "You cannot use a one or two-way mobile radio transmitter, including cell phones and cellular trail cameras capable of sending images or video while actively hunting, to communicate the location or direction of game or furbearing animals or to coordinate the movement of other hunters"
