to include drop off by plane (or rental truck from Fairbanks), meat care, and shipping, flying with gear, airfare, additional costs? asking on a per person basis. I'd love to do one someday with my father but just curious the cost.

assuming well north of $10-15k

From everything I've heard, navigating the logistics of Alaskan hunts is the hardest part by a long ways

Haul Road
2 guys, RT to Fairbanks from lower 48, $1200
4 nights in hotel near airport 2 beds/1 room, $600
2 weeks rental of uhaul pickup $900
Fuel $4 per gallon, 12 miles per gallon, 2400miles, $800
Food, drinks, etc,etc. $1000
Tags, permits for 1 caribou each, $2000
Coolers, boxes, antlers, excess baggage, $1500

hookers, drugs, alcohol, bail, fines, damages to truck, aspirin, $12,000.

Yep, I would say you are pretty close on your guesstimate....

crazy to think we did it for $4,000 each back in 2012 and that was a fly out drop hunt.

I just did it last year. 10k will get you there without pinching pennies

$15,000 full guided hunt in NWT. Thats the route I’m going. Give you guys credit for Doing it DIY

Just some fuel for the fire man I would love to go back some day for round two.

a Haul road hunt sounds like a great way to do it but no rifle within 5 miles of the HWY....that's tough for a non archery dude & I've heard from numerous sources that ground is nasty to hike in long distance

Do not do the 5 mile death March trust me! I had 5 buddies that tried it and failed miserably. If you do the haul rd either do archery or fly out which is what I would do hands down.
