I assume the guys on here would want the Paul Harvey version on this. So I honestly think the only real reason this isn’t my all time favorite animal is I’ve always felt like I botched the shot. The day before I took that bull my buddy was with him in the timber all day and couldn’t get it done. That morning we left my dad’s truck with the intent of my calling for him to try and kill that bull. We get in there and he is going nuts 6 other bulls in the draw and as my dad says “it sounds like Jurassic park in here” with these elk just screaming. Tom breaks right down a draw to close the gap and shortly after cows start heading out going left. So I drop down left I’m hid really well behind a tree pull my quiver knock an arrow and cows are single filing by me up a beef trail. I can hear him screaming down in the timber and I know he will be following the ladies. Soon enough I see him coming I draw and stop him with a cow call. Plan worked perfectly other than I didn’t realize he was a few yards my side of the trail and I like to shoot elk between half and 2/3 way up. I’ve found hitting them a hair high with the bow they usually won’t clear 60 yards. The arrow hit that bull about 4-5” from the top of his back followed my me yelling “ #*^@#*” I walk back up top and dad asks me if I had shot the herd bull. I go yup but this is gonna be bad. He goes did I hear you yell #*^@#*. I responded with ya this is gonna be bad. Then he tells me the bull is laying there dead. I’m in total disbelief turns out I clipped a artery in his back bull didn’t make 100 yards and the ol man watched him bulldoze a tree and die in it. The shot has always ate me up I got very lucky that day.
No cape in the bed of that truck. I half expect a larger score sheet to appear
I would absolutely shit my pantsI think he was around 325”

Not a giant by any stretch, but the best I’ve run into with a tag in my pocket. Somewhere right around 320” I believe. I was super excited to get him.

Gardenswartz? This is probably stretching the rules quite a bit since the elk isn’t mine. Don’t even know the hunter. But it’s the coolest bull I’ve ever seen. It’s in a sporting goods store in Durango CO. Arizona bull from unit 9 or 10, I heard. The tine length you have to see to believe.
