Elk hunt help /suggestions

Well I'm going to make a very long story short , my ten day pretty well planned out elk hunting trip has been cut short , lucky I get to go at all , my 6 month old has a lung virus , been going on for weeks now finally getting to bottom of it but everything that consists of is going to cut my elk time to about 3-4 days and I'm starting from scratch . What I would like is suggestions . Pretty much don't have a plan at all now . This is details , I have a gen big game combo (not looking for a deer this trip going on a deer hunt later if it works out ) , only interested in a elk . Coming from ND but travel doesn't matter much to me I'll go wherever in montana , I am in good shape and like to hike, have onxmaps on gps and my phone , have a great rifle that I'm deadly out to 400-500 with . Any input is welcome . Just kinda up in the air as to where I head ... would love a chance at any legal bull but would probably shoot a cow if in a hd that allows that on gen tag . Any help is appreciated

Sorry to hear about your little one. Hope he/she gets better. I wish I could help you with Montana but have never hunted there. Hopefully this will at least give you a bump for someone else to help you out. Good luck.

Where were you originally planning to hunt? And why couldn't you just do a shortened hunt there?

HDs around white sulphur , 446,416 . I could . But I was planning on going early to do couple days of scouting now that's shot and I've never been there so I'm going in blind
