Just harvested an archery elk on a solo hunt. Pack wasn't a terrible experience but processing and breaking down a bull by myself isn't as easy as it once was. I hadn't quite finished when the muscle cramps started in. Couldn't hardly work my fingers and my forearms were knotted up.
I wonder what everyone uses to keep the electrolytes in the system.

I miss gookinaid anyone remember that? Didn’t taste as strong as today’s electrolyte drinks but did the job!

LMNT and/or Liquid IV. Don’t really use or need them after it cools off as water seems to do fine for me, but hunting in 70+ weather I seem to use them more.

Squencher. I like the lemonade flavors. Come in single-serve powder sticks. Don’t get the liquid packs- those are just a mess.

They have been available in every melt shop I’ve worked in or visited- where working conditions can easily be 150 degrees or more at certain times of the day/year. You wouldn’t believe how bad you can sweat when in full silvers next to 150 tons of molten steel, or patching a hot furnace when the refractory starts wearing thin, or spraying slag with a fire hose to keep it from foaming up (so then you’re standing in a steam bath staring at something so hot the radiant heat can give you a sunburn).

I’ve seen them bring folks back from being fully unable to walk in short order. I’ll stand by them to the end.
