Dog Crap

Yeah... try and talk to owners...but make sure you have the right dogs and owners...

If they are pricks about it... a little daisy red rider or something similar would spook them off and not penetrate.... but you'll probably have to make a mission of it, be vigilant for a few days...

Or, if you want to go to war, you can collect it in a bucket and dump it now and again on their yards or sidewalk or whatever... Thats not the way I'd handle it, but its an option....

Thanks guys. Some good suggestions here. I love the trail cam idea to catch the offending dogs legitimately. Right now I'm in the mood for some sniping - I was looking at one of those sniper rifle paintball guns with clear fill paintballs... :D

I'd speak with the suspected owners...the dogs are simply doing what dogs do. I cerrtainly wouldn't want my dogs messing up my neighbor's stuff or risking retribution. I love my Goldens buit they are a tremendous pain in the ass and my responsibility.

When it comes to pets people will stick up for them just like they would for their kids, right wrong or other wise. I know my kids will tell you that they were guilty until proovin innocent. But they didn't crap in someone else's yard , at least that I know of!!

I wish I had all of you for neighbors! :D Around here people think dogs are more important and have more rights than people. They just passed a state law making it a felony to kill a dog or cat. Don't get me wrong I like dogs and cats. I have a dog and a cat. There are just too many stupid people. Every week on the news you hear of a Pitbull attack on a kid, half the time the kid dies. They need to pass a law making owners responsible for the damage their pets do.

I would be careful with the poisoning idea on two fronts. First, I have treated multiple dogs and cats for ethylene glycol toxicity and as others have said, it is not pretty and is not fair to the animal. Cats are exceptionally sensitive to antifreeze. They can just walk in it and then groom their feet and die. Two, it would be likely that you would end up being the one in trouble for cruelty to animals. Start with a "neighborly" confrontation and then go from there to the authorities. I've been in a similar situation except it involved dogs trying to eat my wife's cats (that I'm not too fond of, but she holds the trump card, if you know what I mean). I live in the country and if a stray animal comes onto your property and threatens you or your livestock (cats included), you are allowed to shoot them. My neighbors know my penchant for shooting things and a conversation with the dog's owners and showing them a copy of the county code straightened things out immediately. By the way, treatment for ethylene glycol toxicity is grain alcohol IV. One hell of a 2-3 day drunk for the animal. Now ya'll don't go to the emergency room telling them that you accidently swallowed antifreeze!!!

Being that I mow lawns I encounter this all the time. Nothing makes you more furious than hitting dog crap with the weed eater and having it smack you in the face. You can wash off but the smell will be there all day:mad: So here's what I've done. I mow this 4 plex that has a small grass island at the front of the sidewalk that leads up to the 4 different doors, so everyone has to take that sidewalk. I've asked the president of the assoc. to please have them remove the dog doo the day before I come. Basically the tenants told him to take a hike. I said that I was going to solve the problem and he gave the ok to do whatever. I ended taking a shovel each week and piling the crap up right smack in the middle of the sidewalk where everyone had to walk by it. I showed the president what I had done and he was fine with it. I came back the next week and it was still there along with a ton more dog crap on the patch of grass I needed to mow. The pile was already the size of a horses pile so I shoveled the weeks worth up and added it too the pile. It now is so large that there's only 1 foot on each side to walk by it and it's stinky nasty. I came back the next week and it was gone and the lawn was clean. For the most part it has been fixed.

I'm not sure if they share the mailboxes with you or not but you could just continue to pile the crap up in front of their box on the street and see if that gets their attention. I think the trail cam idea is great and probably you're best bet.

You must live in north Raleigh.

Had same problem. Talked to neighbor, no help. Made a big sign that said Mrs. Whoevre, please dont let your dog crap on my lawn. Onlt took 2 days and it hasnt happened again. She wlks on the other side of the street.

Sure wouldnt poison the dog though. Horrible death, and not the dogs fault.
