IT, Maybe you should check with the local lost and found to see if your :BLEEP: sense of humor has been turned in. Excuse the :BLEEP: out of me for trying to introduce a little levity into a conversation that has strayed so insanely off topic that I thought some humor might be a nice diversion.
Matt, That may be a factual account. If so, then he was correctly decorated. The account that I gave was accurate also. Any commander that would demand that wounded be left in the field so that they might escape, all other actions aside, is not worth the powder and lead it would take to blow him to hell.
danr55- Would you consider General Patton to be a great soldier? There are a lot of rough accounts of his commands. General MacCarthur (in the article you posted) butted heads with the President. He also has a lot of people that were uneasy with his tactics both politically and on the battle field. Both of which were (historically) great generals. Everyone has to make tough decisions, that is why they are in the position to do so. I can't comment on how Wesley Clark commanded his troops or why. That really isn't my job or yours. During battle, a lot of very difficult decisions are made. It's easy to criticize in hindsight from the cheap seats. You may not like how a person commands (any General or commander) but I stand behind my comment that a person EARNS the 4 stars, he doesn't just get them by popularity.

Michaelr- I've never had to prove I was male by getting into a "scrap". I did wrestle and got quite a few awards when I was in grade school but never considered that fighting. It was just as easy to walk away from someone as to fight them. I really can't remember anyone looking down on me for doing so...but then again, if they did, it was really their problem not mine.
