Do I spend 4 hours to try to save this bird?

So evidently this bird got itself into a little bit of trouble.



Would be a 4 hour round trip to go try to save it. Will it get out on its own or will it be dead before I can get there in 2 hours?

If you succeed, you’ll be glad you did. If it dies and you don’t, you’ll be glad you tried. If it gets out on its own you’ll curse the bird but there’s worse ways to spend your day

My cameras are set to send every hour so I might wait until the next round of pictures to see if it gets out and if it doesn't I guess I'll spend 4 hours round tripping it to try to save it. I'll bring a 2x4 to use to help get it out.

Well I had plans for this afternoon but I guess I’m headed to Paducah.

If it doesn’t have any broken bones I’d just set in a tree nearby and it will come through.

If it’s got a broken wing a rehabber MIGHT look at it.

if it’s a compound fracture a rehabbed will most likely euthanize.

Nature is a bitch sometimes.

My dad would always put a stick in his water tank. Squirrels that fell in were able to get out. Not sure if that would work for birds.

Just closed on it last week so haven’t had a chance to meet any neighbors.

Have a keyed lock on the gate, need to swap it out for a combination lock.

The forest service tanks around here all have 1x6's with 3/4 × 3/4 treads on them laying on the rim/ in the water for critters to get out on.

Yeah. Not sure if it just spent 2+ hours fighting for its life or 2+ hours enjoying a cool dip in the pool.

There isn’t any fish in there that I’ve seen. There is some algae in it but I wouldn’t think that would be of any interest to a hawk. No idea.
