We've seen/killed several deer and elk real close to trails. I remember specifically stalking a buck in the high country near a popular trail. As I was pinned down by a doe I could hear people have conversations on the trail below. It was like that deer knew that the voices weren't a threat. However, I did put a stalk on a black bear in the same area and I was waiting on the bear as he fed closer. Same thing, some folks started talking on the trail, that bear perked up, looked towards the voices and then bolted...
