Does anyone have any DIY backcountry recipes they would be willing to share? I usually will buy two mountain house meals and re-use the bags to cook ramen or a type of pasta. Jerkey, dehydrated fruit, and tuna packets are a usual for me. I am hoping to find more DIY hot meals but will take any other suggestions.

I just a cheapo and don't like to buy a bunch of Peaks or mountain house.

Thanks

I dehydrate meals.
Break it up small and spread it thin in the dehydrator.
Stay away from ground beef. Shits nasty when it comes back.

Lasagna, spaghetti, really most pastas do really well.
Jalapeno popper casserole is awesome, I'll have to find the recipe my wife hid.
Chicken pot pie
Chicken enchiladas

Peanut butter ramen w cashews and craisins. Get fancy w a little Hoisin sauce or sriracha.
PB &J in a coleman tube, eat it straight or on cracker.
I usually bring one frozen meat depending on circumstances. If u can keep frozen to the trailhead it will thaw safely and a hell of a boost if u have the means and initiative to cook it. Sausages on a stick over fire or jet boil flame is easiest.

Instant mashed potatoes are great belly warmer but clean up can be a pain, using pouch from mtn house is a great idea.
