Ladies and gentlemen, question for the group. I am a currently serving Army member and love the outdoors. I am planning a group elk hunt for several friends that have given for there country. I have been fortunate enough to fill my OTC Colorado tag the past 2 years and want to give back to to fellow Vets(Brothers I went to war with). I want to give them as much of the elk hunting experience as I can and hope we might at least see elk. There injuries vary, but they all still have the heart to crawl to the top of the mountain if I told them that's where the elk were. One is missing a leg and will be depending a lot on an ATV.
We are going to be hunting public land and I have been doing some scouting trying to find suitable areas that I might be able to but these guys during 3rd season elk in southern Colorado in unit 73 and 74. It pretty nasty country and I know that is what will be holding elk just concerned about safety and getting them in the right location. Any suggestions on things like, just keep looking, find easy country and just get them in the mountains and hope we might see elk? I know it will be good for them to just get out and be men for a week but I want it to be a good hunt as well. Thank you for your suggestions.
