I have a couple of random deer questions. First, will a piebald (pinto) deer pass that coloration to its offspring? I rent some farm ground that has quite a few deer on it, the other night I saw a piebald deer on their place. I tried a cell phone pic through my binos, but that didn't work. Just curious if that gene will likely continue to show up in those deer or if it's a random occurrence? I've gone back with my camera to find the piebald deer, but so far no luck - I see cool stuff when I don't have a camera. Second, what's a good way to color antlers? I was doing euros for my son and brother, while in the hydrogen peroxide my brother's deer skull shifted and now has whitened antlers for a few inches up from the skull. It didn't take all the color out, but has a noticeable line where they're whitened. Any good ways to make the color look normal again, especially where they're normal high and then whitened low? Any info is appreciated.

I'm not a genetic expert but here's my best understanding of your deer question. The albinistic characteristic that you see is the result of a recessive coloration gene inherited from (probably) both parents. It is very slightly more likely that your "piebald" deer would produce offspring with some white coloration; only because you know that particular deer carries the recessive gene. Lots of deer probably carry the recessive gene, it's just masked and you would never know until it found the unlikely mate that resulted in a color mix. It is far more likely that the dominant coloration gene from the other parent would override the color expression in the "piebald" animal. Hope that is useful, maybe someone else has their genetics dialed in.
