Deer - lets see em

I was also successful this year killing a doe in the hardest place possible to get her out of haha! Drew a national forest for tag this year and shot this nanny miles from camp with a ton of elevation to pack her up. The best part is nobody else was crazy enough to be in there so I had the whole place to myself.

I'd love to be posting a mule deer pic but given their current state I have been focusing on elk and whitetail. I struck out on elk this year, but we did well as a group. My bow buck was too young and after walking up on him I immediately knew I should have passed but what's done is done and he will taste delicious. My rifle buck was "my hunt" for the year, the hunt where only I had the tag, and it was selfishly all about me. My brother came with, and we had an incredible hunt, with my only regret being that it was too short, but I knew this buck was near the top end for the region I was hunting and the old "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" mantra aided in my decision to notch the tag. Overall, it was a great fall and the older I get the more I cherish my time in the field, regardless of the outcome.
