The bulls are still in velvet and will be for another 3 weeks or so (if thats an issue) As of 2 pm AST today, there are about a thousand or so animals in large bands between the Kuparuk River and Slope Mtn

Good luck

40s to low 50s during the day dipping to the high 30's at night.

Its partially cloudy and cool (43F) as of 7pm AST 8 Aug. The rain lately has been heavy instead of the usual drizzle

Might... Get an opportunity to come up in Oct to hunt. Thinking of bou, goat or deer. Would love to get a nice Oct-caped bull, but I'm always skeptical about those crazy, rutty, smelly swing'n ding ding bou's. Post up some pics when you can.

Sorry Ovis but I'm trapped in the guard shack this tour. I'll ask my partner to click some pics if he can get them. I'll be on the road next hitch 30 Aug to 13Sep.

BTW fellers,
It snowed wednesday night so bring your whites if you're headed up.

They're still in large groups between Toolik Lake and Pump 3

I go back up on the 31st and will be on road patrol and will post updates as things change

Good luck and don't forget to pick up a R.U.G.
