Recently bought a pack for an upcoming elk hunt. First time out training with the loaded pack, it creaked distractingly. I'm like, Dang (not me real phrase), this'll chase a grizzly away!! Turns out to be some waist belt nylon around the frame. 'smornin' I wrapped some friction tape around the frame under the nylon and went out to do the lap, down and up, the ridge trail.
Whoo-hoo it is ABSOLUTELY quiet. Now just gotta see how long it works. If there is a change shortly, I'll get back to ya'll.

I have had similar issues with a pack of mine. What is "friction tape" ?

It's is similar in structure to electrical tape, 'cept it's a fabric based tape impregnated with a sticky black substance. As a kid we used to wrap baseball bat handles with it. It's good on anything you would need gripping traction for. My dad always called it "friction tape", so I call it the same.
