Sadly, we shit the bed regarding testing, up to and including the present. The only reason our numbers aren't higher, is that we have tested fewer people in total than other countries are testing daily.

WHY DO WE NEED TO TEST MORE PEOPLE??? If sick stay home, a test to confirm will not heal you.

Yes the government should take action, yes we should be informed, and yes we should use precautions.

The thing that interest me is that SOME of the vary people who are in a panic to clean out the store shelves don't think twice about smoking or the hazards to others with second hand smoke, take recreational drugs with no concern where that uncontrolled substance came from or was cut with, Drinks alcohol to excess even with liver damage, or even have no care about texting and driving. But notification of a virus, and you've seen the numbers, will cause them to clean out the shelves in a panic. So now, lets say, a single mother with 2 kids making minimum wage can't even go to the store to buy a package of toilet paper because she didn't have the money to be 20 packages before the panic.

Just my opinion...

He has beat the odds for many years and is now on a new gene altering drug that has been helping immensely, but the CV could kill him if he gets it. Of course my buddy hasn't been sleeping well. I am usually the type that doesn't fret about much and often just says things will be fine, and no big deal, but we all have to be careful what we say, because many people have a loved one with compromised immune systems or other lung diseases that could die from this if they get it. Most of us will likely get thru it, but some will not.

So what is your experience with people reliably staying home when they are ill?

The test to confirm gives people around you the information they need to make smarter decisions. It gives health authorities information on where the disease is and how prevalent it is. And on and on.
 
If you want to see how easy it is to start a panic, go to work and start a rumor that the A/C has been emitting chlorine gas for a couple of weeks and management knew but no one was told because it's harmless. See how many go to the doctor and leave work sick... :unsure:

Not according to @VikingsGuy just stay home, otherwise your just a drain on the system.

Because knowing the contact points the infected person had before they were sick, yet still contagious, might allow you to get in front of the spread. If sick, stay home is great advice, but you probably gave it to 2-3 people before you got sick.

I can try to answer. What I don't want to hear is how smart a member of his staff thinks he is on the subject. What we need is the Federal government to support local areas with high infection rates taking steps on containment. This probably means sending those communities a big check to pay staff buy resources to deal with the problem. Without this local communities might be reluctant to shut down travel or economic activity because it essentially shuts them off from revenue sources. The checks need to be written and I will say that it will be cheaper to write them now than to write them later. I remember Bernanke telling us in 2007 the sub-prime mortgage problem was contained. In retrospect, they could have just bought every sub-prime mortgage at that moment for $1T. Instead they ended up buying $4T in assets and the market dropped by 50%.

I woke this morning and ran out of TP, so at lunch I went to the local grocery store to pick some up and shelves are empty. So I asked a clerk why are they out of TP she told me because people are buying for the Coronavirus . So i went to like 3 different stores to buy TP finally found some at Home depot. When I was in line to buy TP I noticed that there were several people with the their carts filled to the brim with TP, bleach, and cleaning products wtf..
