Coons with hand calls

Sorry if this is a re- posting of a question. I am wondering if anyone has had good luck using hand calls for coons. I recall hearing about a bird distress working for them. I don't really want to spend the money on an electric caller. Thanks

I have a primos coon squaller I think its called, but to be honest I've only used it when I see coons in my yard to pull them out of a tree or into view...but around here the big coons live in town.
