Cooler space

My post #8 above was referring to my cousins transporting two elk from Idaho to New York. Since that was thirty years ago I phoned him to ask if he had any problems with the meat etc, he is way younger with the memory of an elephant. I am sure we talked about it then.....but my memory.....
What I put in #8 post was wrong, he said they had a split thermometer taped to the side of the chest freezer and would check the temp every time they stopped. When it got to 48 degrees he would start the generator, at 35 it was shut off.
I wish I had his smarts, he does not forget a thing!
