I would say depends on how flat the area is, no terrain is hard for stalking.
The horse idea works great for getting close if the horses will cooperate.
Look over some waterholes just in case you need to sit one.
Wonder how the sunflower crop is this year? Last year Eastern Colorado was covered in sunflowers, not planted ones.
