I am thinking I should have a cow call or 2 to stop an elk if they are coming past me ? I use a lot of mouth calls turkey hunting and am pretty good with them but never touched an elk call. I use TOP calls, they have a metal band in them I can bend and fit to my mouth. Do the rocky mountain calls and that same band or are they plastic like the Primos ones ? What calls would you guys have with you if any first rifle ?

I used to carry a Hoochie Momma push type cow call on a lanyard around my neck. It was super easier to use, simply push the rubber end to force air through the call and then drop it. It worked pretty well as long as I was set up on a rest/tree/stump already. This is my first year running diaphragm calls, but I am picking up a bow for the first time in 10 years. Rocky mountain has a couple of different versions for diaphragms. Some plastic and some metal. I am not a huge fan of the plastic ones, but I was able to get a sound out of them.
