Hope everyone is staying safe out there with these record temps and fires (Death Valley was 134 degrees ) and locally around this area it's 111. Whole state seems to be smoked out. Best wishes to those who are in the thick of it.

My son is currently at the Loyalton fire even though he is on a NV BLM crew. His crew spent a couple of days near Battle mountain NV last week before being sent to the Phillips creek fire in ID.
They are a rookie crew so they aren't on the front lines but doing a lot of clean-up of hot spots and cutting fire breaks.

I’ve been bouncing around the state on fires for the last month. If anyone has a Modoc deer tag and wants some intel, I located some fatties up there near the Lava Beds. I’m willing to trade some info haha.
It’s shaping up to be a long summer/fall for us firefighters. Prayers for safety are always appreciated!

Some of my buddies on crews down here have said the same thing about how its going to be a long season. Stay safe man!

Thank him for us. We live in Cold Springs and have been watching it from the driveway since it started.

I’m about 70 miles from the Del Porto canyon fire 80,000 acres, we’ve had smoke and ash all dayE0040352-DF8F-4786-AA8B-E0B96BA6DBEC.jpeg

Damn, My dad's college roommate had an X3B tag. They stayed in Ft. Bidwell.

Oh nice! That’s a great tag to have. I was on a fire in the Warner Mountains a few years ago and saw some great deer. Were they able to get one down?

Fort Bidwell is a quaint, little town. When I was young it had two general stores, a dry good store, a saloon and a couple hotels Now only a small hotel with its restaurant and a post office. Still a lovely place.

Bidwell is truly the end of the road, ten miles from Oregon and maybe ten miles to Nevada. The pavement literally stops there.

Forgot to mention Bidwell area has good Mule deer, pronghorn, and these days elk. A tough place to draw a tag. still a few old time cowboys. This is cattle country
