Well guys he isn’t a big one but I filled one of my California tags during archery season this morning. First bow kill in prob 5 years or so. Spotted the buck feeding towards the back side of a group of oak trees and brush, snuck around the back side where he was heading towards. He made his way out just the way he was heading and I was there, Made the shot at 50 yards arrow entered in the neck/chest area and exited behind the opposite side shoulder. This was the fastest I’ve ever seen a deer go down from
An Archery Shot he was down and out with 30 seconds. Shot with a 2 1/2” Vortex expandable head. And it did it’s job As forsure.

Nice! Nothing like a quick kill. Which D section were you hunting? I have tags for D11 and D14. Hope I fill my tags as quickly.

Congratulations on a beautiful buck and a great shot. Very well done!

Thanks guys. Gotta say I am Now a huge fan of the expandable head I was using and would recommend, the local archery shop owner has been pushing me to try them for years this is just the first shot I’ve made with one and man they are devastating

I was in D6

That’s crazy that your buck is already hard horned... congrats on a nice buck👍🏼
Ya I was shocked too I seen 2 other bucks that morning one spike and another fork about the same size and both of them were full velvet.
Idk why some lose so much earlier than others. Maybe someone can chime in on that
