Had a bull just about kill one of our horses last year. Vet said if he had punctured his stomach he would have died. He had another hole in his chest.

Friend finally fenced off a pasture . 2 horses gored and no elk tags on the property for 15 years. Main migration corridor too.

I found a calf moose a couple years ago that was obviously gored by a bull. Gravel road was completely torn up where it occurred, the calf had some crazy long cuts and multiple puncture wounds. The bull and a cow, I assumed mom, were standing about 30 yards away from the calf

Seems counter productive to maybe kill a calf to make another calf. Nature works in mysterious ways

I think that’s what bears do, intentionally kill cubs. So they can breed!
