These pictures were dated August 2nd and 3rd from my trail cam... does it look like this guy has a chance to grow some tines or will he just be a mature spike this year?

My gut tells me he is going to be the same that he is right now, a 2x3 spike that I will probably call in 4 or 5 times this year :(

The ends of his tines may get a little more pointed instead of rounded like they are now but no more tines are going to grow this late

Follow your gut. Use the force, but don't call him in.

Did you say mature spike??!?

I did... Basically like saying a mature 12 or 13 year old kid... more physically mature but still a kid... and in this case more mature, but still a spike.

I assumed you were but I'm never quite sure about some people :D

Can't shoot spikes in that unit unfortunately, want a legal bull anyway, but I have seen this guy probably 10-15 times this past month... I already know, I will call him in at least once... oh well, it will still be fun! (better than not seeing anything, I guess!!)

How is that classified as a spike? Do they have to have brows to not be a spike? That elk has great genetics to have that many points as a yearling. It would be a shame to shoot him anyway. He will be a hog someday.

Browtine growth... in April!!!
