Anyone have any recommendations for a good mid weight jacket that has some stretch in the back and in the sleeves preferably available in tall size? I have a pretty wide wing span and when I have a couple layers on coupled with a jacket my shoulders and sleeves get too tight especially while drawing. Looking for something with a little stretch and comfort. Seems like nobody makes shoulders and sleeves long enough for my liking.

For how much I dislike Sitka’s pants, the new Jetstream jacket comes in tall and fits me really well. I’m 6’5 235 and the XLT fits me great. I need tall sizes.

Thanks I've got some Sitka stuff I really like I git used here. Maybe I'll check them out if cabelas or someone local has them in stock.

I have really liked my Jestream jacket. I find it fairly forgiving and reasonably quiet. It has become my favorite jacket.

Wife and I both wear Jetstream jackets. A couple layers underneath will keep us good down to 20F before we switch to heavier jackets. Tree stand hunting.

Same issue, I have a 31 in draw.

Not sure if this is for whitetail, saw bow hunting in the title. If you like Sitka check out the stratus jacket. Exact same jacket as the jet stream but with a fleece face so it’s quieter. Since it’s wind proof if you layer with something like the ambient it’ll take you down pretty far in temp.

I went with the first lite phase last year. Similar idea, fleece facing and windproof. We don’t get near the cold you guys do so I was able to layer and use it all season. The core is the same jacket but with more insulation.

I love wool and fleece but we have a lot of burrs up here I'm where I chase deer. Like I've had to throw away clothes before.

We have them here, too. We drug one out last night, I’ll be working on that jacket this afternoon. Burrs suck

It is a jacket for a layering system. I think that is how it was designed. It has huge arm pit vents. I do a tech bottom, and it for the hike in usually. Then I swap out my sweaty ass tech bottom and add my puffy under the jet stream. It’s cozy.

The puffy is designed to trap air. Try putting the puffy over the jet stream. Putting it under a jacket, compress the loft of the down.

I like my old FL Woodbury. Warm and super quiet. Not sure what it's been replaced with. It's a bit heavy, I wish they would have used down instead of synthetic insulation.

I don’t have any hunting brand top layers, but some of the more technical outdoor brands (Patagonia, arcteryx, outdoor research) fit my tall, lanky frame really well. There are probably different definitions of “mid layer” but I use a Patagonia R2 Techface for moderate to high exertion hunts from 20-50 degrees. The outer face has some wind and water resistance and haven’t had issues with burrs sticking to it. From 0-20, I use an Arcteryx Atom LT. It’s surprisingly breathable for the warmth. Typically have a puffy in the pack for glassing and can always add a light wool base layer if needed.

Caveat: all my Arcteryx is about a decade old and before they were acquired by a Chinese PE. The fit may be more “mainstream” now (ie, boxy and short like everything else made for the average American)
