My old Cabela’s Miendl’s have went their last mile and since we drew antelope tags, I need replacements ASAP. I like the 10in boot, the stiff sole, and the idea of cactus not poking me like they do in a lighter boot. Back home I whitetail and turkey hunt in the mountains and those Miendl’s were like having 4wd. I know they are still on Amazon but thought I would ask what others are wearing before I pulled the trigger.

I’ve actually liked the Kenetrek mountain extreme I’ve been wearing. Third season on them and they’ve held up great.

I had tried an Hanwag Alaskan. I liked the feel of the boot but the fit wasn’t quite right for my feet.

I love the 2 pairs of Zamberlaan's I use & would recommend them. The Lowa's I've used have also been great. I would not recommend Kenetrek. I know a lot of guys like them, but I've had some bad experiences with their boots & their customer service was horrible. I know a couple other guys who have also not liked them.

It took me 8 years to put enough beating (and neglect if I'm honest) to justify getting a second pair of Kenetrek Mt Extremes, and they are still waterproof.
The second pair developed a leak at about 9 months. Sent them in, customer service called & said they couldn't find the leak and that a new pair was being sent asap.
As long as they make the Mountain Extreme I will never own another brand.

Sounds like their customer service has come a long way. The issues I had with them were over 10 years ago.

I have Kenetrek Mountain Extremes, and they're good, but my feet are always hot.

I picked up some Crispi Colorados this year and after 20 miles, they're feeling really good. Significantly lighter and better breathing than the leather Kenetreks.

Same here

I'm with brymoore. I have the Crispi Birksdale and the Nevadas. I had Lowa Tibets and an Asolo gtx boots in the past. All good boots but I love the Barksdale .

A good boot is one that fits you. Don't let brand or others experiences pick your boot. mtmuley
This. I will add that you stick with a high quality manufacturer. Good boots aren't cheap, but they are worth it. Six years and countless miles on my schnees beartooths. They just went back to Italy for a rebuild because they are that comfortable on my foot.

Except for the customer service recommendations/experiences,
100% agree with Muley on this...boots are like wives, they're an acquired taste...
Better than wives. They're with you until the bitter end, then once you decide to replace them, they quietly let you do your thing.

They don't leave you and take half your shit and money!

I hear you mtmuley, and totally agree. I need more of a recommendation on fit and reliability now that I really think about it. I’m leaning toward the barksdale, schnee’s, or another set of meindl’s.

Any of the top end boots are great. If you can go try on the ones you are interested in. That’s what I did. Happy with my choice of a couple different boots. mtmuley

Try on a bunch. I think I tried on six different brands last time I chose a manufacturer.

I have two pairs of Hoffman’s. Looking at grabbing the Crispi Uplander. I’ve also worn Schnee’s, Lowa, and Zamberlans.
