Like most of us do (at least my buddies) the winter time blues has set in and I’m just looking at hunts in the future. I’ve been looking at some permit only hunts for deer in Montana and 401 came up as an interesting hunt. Lot of ag land seems like you’d really have to bounce around but looks like a fun hunt. My question is do those deer get pressured pretty hard in the general season? Is it worth trying to draw the permit only? I’m sure there’s some tanks running around in that unit. Any input appreciated!

Never hunted that unit, but this is Montana, so the answer to your question is probably 'Yes'. Opportunity being what it is, of course.

. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is no doe tags available in R7 as much as even the biologists say the critters are down
