Boat Buying Season?

Scored a heck of a deal on an Angler Qwest center consol pontoon last fall. Been setting it up for trolling. Finally almost there after new rod holders, lithium battery, 70lb motorguide (hand remote), and a new 75hp Mercury caught the 7 year warranty sale they are currently having. She's ready for the lake. Already had it out after testing the trolling motor.

My boat budget isn’t great right now. Thought I was sitting in the “ok aluminum boat” range, but looking through the classifieds shows me I’m closer to the “used canoe” range.

Seems like price and availability improves if I’m willing to drive east a ways, though. And I’m willing to spend a weekend to get the right boat.

My wife has the perennial boat bug. Her idea of what we need is a jet to run up hells canyon while I’d be happy with an aluminum prop boat to bass fish a few lakes and some flat water salmon and steelhead. We are both considering different jobs within the next few months and money towards a boat will almost certainly take precedence over a home upgrade

There are ocean going vessels that have enough solar on them to navigate the world. I think with a little ingenuity and a lot of Christopher Cross, this could be a reality for @BrentD

I like the way you keep trying, but I do not know how it is going to get through the trees at Prairie Portage on the back of that flatbed trailer. By the way, this cannot break my bank account either. It is really fragile after building a house and barn. Nonetheless, I will put a search on facebook marketplace to see if I can pick up a used one cheap.

You do know that masts can be lowered, right?

Maybe don't go with the golden toilet on the next build & your boat budget would better suit my spending habits.

Live and learn. Actually, you would be surprised how little house you can get for a whole bunch of money.
