It has been a rough deer season out on the coast in Washington. Clear bluebird days and frosty nights = really tough hunting for Blacktail deer. Stormy weather is so needed to be able to penetrate our thick woods and be able to stalk, we are in the 15th day with no rain, almost unheard of for this country at this time of the year. I have had no success...yet. The regular season closed on Halloween as it always does, and now the bucks are coming out, like they always do. The season structure here is laid out pretty tight, with a second season four day late buck hunt that begins November 14th. Yes the bucks are pretty much done rutting here by that time.
Here is a nice Blacktail buck from this morning ( I was too slow to get the 4x4 in the shot), having a stare down with my duck dog. These Blacktails are very pretty deer.Ryker and Buck 11.8.19.jpg
