I once heard of an outfitter that offered quality road hunts but he's no longer in the business. I think the best spot for a road hunt would be right off the road.

You might try the Wy. predation hunt..Lots of area there to road hunt...

Ok when is it not considered to be road hunting?

Hey Nut, I saw an add for a ranch a little north of here near Johnson City, Texas where you can get a cow elk for $500. Plus, the $35 liscense (over the counter), plus your travel and food. Its year round hunting, its bow or gun. When do you want to do it? You could get one in a couple of days probably. There's other states with that too, like PA, that's probably closer to you.

No doubt that the best place around here to road hunt elk is the San Diego Zoo, although the Tule Elk Refuge runs a close second.
