Best Opening Lyrics

[Nunyacreek]

we were standing on the mountaintop
Where the cactus flowers grow
We were wishing that the world would stop
When she said “we better go”

We’ve all seen at least three times

Not tunes, but 1st lines in novels.

Great novels always open with killer first sentences

"I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills."

"In our family, there was no clear line between religion and fly fishing"

"He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish."

Opening sentences are like guitar riff intros.

[JV842]

Headbangers in leather
Sparks flyin' in the dead of the night
It all comes together
When they shoot out the lights
Fifty thousand watts of power
And it's pushin' overload
The beast is ready to devour
All the metal they can hold
Reachin' overload
Start to explode

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy...

Now thats a name change I could get behind...

This one is right up there with catching attention right away....

You know, its current name is, more or less, a direct translation of its original name.

Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn't have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standin' by
But "happily ever after" fades
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The Lawyers dwell on small details
Since daddy had to fly
