Today I kicked off my annual knockathon to obtain permission for fall archery turkey and deer hunting on private land. New this year was taking my 2-year old with me, to introduce her to cold calling and building relationships with landowners. I've heard that bringing a kid along can be disarming, and it really paid dividends! Of the eight places we stopped, we got 2 "yes" responses, 1 maybe, and 5 not home/wrong person. One of the yes responses was on my long shot A-list properties, so this was a very productive day. This is also the first time I've had zero no responses to cold calls. Kids are expensive, but today my little one more than earned her keep, and she doesn't even know it. Still have 19 more calls to make, and all will be done with my best hunting partner.
