Best food spots and Bars in Butte

Fun town in 1975.
I'd go with the Basin boys and hit Fintown bars. Quarter dogs,fifty cent pitchers. Local gals would come in and sell pastis and ...
I remember the day someone firebombed the Penny's and a block burned.
Best day was the day Nixon resigned and the whole town was a street party. Red neck Dem's. I still have the cowboy hat I got that day and a 30-30.
There were a few cafe's but nothing I'd travel for today.

A good buds sister was going to college in Butte back in the 80's. We may have used her to meet some of those girls @MTGomer talked about. mtmuley

Funny you say that. The comment above yours was about Bananza Freeze…I got in a fight there once while waiting on some food.

On one of the first trips I took my wife on 20 years ago, we stopped at the Bonanza Freeze on our way out of town as we headed to the Pioneers. Waiting in line in front of me for her ice cream, was a girl no older than 11 smoking a cigarette.

My kids love that place, and when we stop to get ice cream I think about that Daughter of Butte often and what her lungs, if still working today, might look like.

My wife and daughter were in the Butte Walmart a few weeks ago. They said there was a boy, about 8 years old, that looked a lot like Cartman from South Park walking around unsupervised and calling everyone bitches.

It’s definitely an experience. I told my wife it’s a lot like going to the state fair. It brings out the same type of folks.

I like Butte, the people are always friendly...not a bunch of pretentious, entitled azzwipes. I stay clear of types of bars, and now WalMart.
Maybe I hit Wally World on an off day.

Montana Rip & Chop House is good. It's in a casino/hotel building. We like it for Executive Lunch during the week which is a sirloin for a very good price with baked potato and salad. They have a pretty good beer selection, usually.

The other chains I've tried were good like The Montana Club Restaurant. Not great but good, and similar to other places in the state.

Not a restaurant but, I always stop by Western Meat Block when I go through town. They make a killer horseradish marinade. It keeps in the freezer well. Tons of other good stuff there.

Their jalapeño cheddar kielbasa is well worth it. Great options there.

Great Italian food and they have a bunch of gluten free things on the menu if you believe in that kind of thing

The only place I have eaten in Butte was at the Butte Brewing Co. on our way to my daughter’s Wyoming elk hunt. Beer and pizza was good.
