Out here in CA we have a great diversity when it comes to waterfowl. Been a great season thus far and have another 30 plus days to go. Looking forward to a great last few weeks. Hopefully we will get some weather to bring some more birds south!

Had some great hunts early on in the season

A nice Cinnamon Teal that was in full plumage early this year.

A few good goose hunts recently.

Great looking photos jumpshooter. Always nice to see that California has some good hunting opportunities, that would be a fun hunt to do someday.

I hope you mounted that cinnamon.

From what I've heard, their draw reservation system down there for the duck refuges works pretty well.

Great looking teal, but how about those Spec's. You must be hunting in the Sac valley.? I've spent plenty of time in the sac refuge to little dry creek area.

Cinnamon teal are very common down here as are green wing. It is blue wings that we very rarely get. Was lucky to do this once in 35 years of hunting.

I am fortunate to be able to hunt in several different locations in the People's Republic of Kalifornia. We do have some of the best waterfowling in the US. And we are fortunate to have some great access to public lands as well. There are many public refuges in the state where a guy can go and do pretty well on a daily basis. Now if we could get Washington to stop planting corn and freeze up, we would be doing a lot better.

Some of the variety that we have:

Some more of the diversity we have here at times:

We don't see these too often, but there are a few shot each year.

The bird on the bottom isn't a mallard!

This was the last hunt from my 14 year old Chessy. I still haven't been able to find a pup to replace him. He is missed!

Really nice photos, and jealous about the specklebellies. I'd guess the "dark" mallard is a wayward Mexican duck?
