Bear Hunts: Close to Kansas

Anyone willing to suggest leads on bear hunts in Arkansas, Colorado or New Mexico area - I am in Kansas and would like to try bear hunt (on a budget) -- I read thread re: Arkansas but it can anyone suggest specific wildlife area that may be fruitful for spot and stalk with rifle? Thanks.

Almost every time I hunt elk in Colorado or New Mexico, I see bears. Most every time, I could have shot a bear, if I had thought to get/apply for a tag. Those are two states pretty close to where you are at.

I think tags in New Mexico are easier to draw than Colorado, maybe even OTC. Western New Mexico has a LOT of bears. The CO guys can probably give you a better idea of how their fall hunts work.
