Be Careful in the Root

I'm guessing that the 7mm has to be a typo. With that, I can appreciate the young man's experience as it mirrors a couple of mine over the years....almost to the "T". Shakes you up a bit when it happens!

Hunting in grizzly country truly separates the men from the boys. My neck muscles get sore from constantly checking my 6 o’clock. Good stuff!D9D97BFC-5CA2-4A0B-98E8-34F4102E5A0A.jpeg

“When I saw that little bit of brown, I had a weird feeling. I thought it was strange I wasn’t seeing or hearing horns. Poor kid musta had that deer in the headlights look if he couldn't hear the horns.

Probably would have more than “a little bit of brown”. In my pants. Just sayin’. Kuddos to him for avoiding a deadly encounter for him and the bear. I probably would have emptied my “7mm” in addition to my bowels.

I think everyone needs to have that mentality that they are everywhere. Your chances might be slim in other areas but it only takes one bad encounter. I was actually talking to my dad this weekend about how strange it was that he used to go archery hunting without a pistol (or bear spray), but now we never leave the truck without one.
Glad that encounter ended up with the bear running away.
