Do you suffer from BCDS?
Are you a new or experienced shooter?
Do you suffer from incessant research and comparison?
Do you suffer from fractional performance?
Is there a diagnosis and prognosis for this disease?
Is this disease contagious?
Is there a help group to share your dysfunctional behavior?
Do you shoot or hunt farther than 500yds?

Ballistic Coefficient Derangement Syndrome (BCDS)

I believe we have all suffered this horrible infliction that has paralyzed our abilities to shoot and hunt with perfectly acceptable functional bullets that have BC's that many scoff and laugh hysterically at. Yes, I must confess I am now shooting and hunting with bullets that many say BC of a brick. Hard to believe, EVEN flat based bullets!!! This enlightenment was not easy, a lot of self doubt, convictions, fear of ridicule, concern I may be ostracized, maybe even banned from LRH? 🤷🏻‍♂️😱🙏

And then it happened, groups were fine and the unbelievable. Animals ACTUALLY died! Seriously, how is this possible? Can this true?

Anyone else recovering from BCDS? Please share your stories of recovery! We can all benefit from your journey!

Just remember I build long range hunting rifles that can do everything. This is a little parody, a little truth, and a little poking fun. There is a reality somewhere. I loved the Sierra .308 180PH that is no longer available. Great flat based bullet that killed just fine.

But also:

Before 6.5 grendel appered on the scene i utilized the 204 case and named it 6.5 magic.
After a couple of yrs tinkering with projectiles i found some cheap spears in 85 gr and flat based. I had them trundling out at 3000 fps, my majn use was sniping wallabys and it was no trouble to go out to 330 yrds, my limiting factor were my old eyes and a 2 to 7 scope.

Wouldn't consider myself recovered but rather actively mitigating BCDS. Once a guy recognizes he doesn't shoot enough in field conditions at distance to be ethical over 500 yards on game it's easier to put away the magnum 7s and 30s flinging 180 or 212+ grain pills and live with the more modest, fun to shoot cartridges.

Nope. 200 grains at 3200 fps forever. And faster with a 172. mtmuley
