Bass Pro Shops stores doors are open 8am to 6pm Thanksgiving Day. Moms and dads can get a jump on their Christmas shopping; kids will love the magic of Santa’s Wonderland with all the crafts and fun activities and don’t forget to get a FREE photo with Santa going on through December 24th.

Think about it when deciding where to shop.

Interesting, our local Cabela's had a sign on the door saying they were closed thanksgiving day so that their employees could spend time with their families. I guess Bass Pro's organizational culture hasn't permeated yet.

I work in a retail pharmacy, 24 hour store. Have worked holidays for 40 years. If it is your time in the barrel, you do it. Working Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Have been thanked numerous times by tearful Mom or Dad, for being there and open.

Part of the job.

After saying all that, a Sporting goods store does not need to by open on the holiday.

I'm not sure about BassPro employees when it comes to holiday pay or bonus cash but my brother certainly enjoys working holiday shifts at the railroad...beau coup bucks working overtime, nights or double shifts on holidays but since my family is spread to the wind we do holidays on different days anyway so it doesn't interrupt the get-togethers.

I guess some commies ain't heard, but the business of 'America is business! Now git back to work.

Why do people get so upset over this? Just be thankful you have a job and bow down to the corporate overlords. Thank them for only exploiting you a little bit. And most of all, be happy that they can't outsource their storefronts to China.

As long as peolpe keep shopping on holidays the stores will be open. I mean all stores, grocery stores included. If people would make a commitment to stay home it would not be profitable for the stores to stay open.
It's simply greed, family time be damned.

When I worked at department of corrections between stints in the military, we used to damned near fist fight for holiday shifts for the extra money for working the holiday. I took my youngest son to Bass Pro a couple of years ago on Thanksgiving day after the new store had just opened. The employees I spoke with said they volunteered for the holiday and weren't forced to work it. Walmart and the big box places are probably different about the holiday allocations of work, but many places ask for volunteers.

I think Amazon is behind a lot of the "close stores on Holidays so families celebrate together" since people sure as heck are shopping online those days. If you work for a crappy employer, spend the next few months getting a better gig. Retail shifts often conflict with when the rest of the non-retail family are relaxing. Choice is a good thing and in America each of us has a choice as we navigate our careers.
