Badlands Scouting - November 21-22

I was back in the Badlands this weekend scouting for the upcoming hunt. Lots of deer out and about. It appears the rut is gearing up, but has a little ways to go in my opinion. Most of the doe groups had small to medium bucks posturing, sniffing, etc. The bigger bucks I did see were still off by themselves and bidding their time. There were still quite a few doe/fawn groups that didn't even have bucks with them yet. I am certain the best is yet to come and is very close.

I did see a bruiser of a buck on this trip and am hoping to get pics of him. I saw him bedded about 50 yards from one of my trail cams and I will be setting up to get a look at him this coming weekend when I go out for the last scouting run.

I was surprised to find some elk on one of my trail cams. There are very few around this area so it was a pleasant surprise.

I will post pics again next week and am hoping to some of the big boys start to show up. The little guys are in for a rude awakening in the next few days!

That 5th picture down has a tank of a body on him. Doesn't seem like a bow is a fair match.

Don't forget to tie up that 180+ buck for BF, remember the one with reflexes like molases in Feb., and now you have to shorten the rope to 12 yrd., man BF his high matinance

Hey now. Easy there. I just came in the house after another 30 arrows. At 20 yards, 8 of them at least hit the "Block - for ba fou." Or however they pronounce that on that commercial. I needed to replace that piece of siding on my shop anyhow, so those holes in the wall aren't a big deal.

Really, by later today, I expect to have it cranked up to 15 yards.

Hey Buschy, you good at operating a Moo Cow? I am thinking this could be a great time to use the Moo Cow and the herd of mule deer doe decoys I have. Up for trying that?
