Bad song lyrics...and assorted stuff

That little 'ol band from Texas in La Grange. The 55th anniversary of their first concert, at the Knights of Columbus hall in Beaumont, was, three days ago, on February 10th. There was one person in the audience, so the band bought him a coke and did the show

Did you know that this song was a tribute to Smokey Robinson? In 1987, they were both Top 10 at the same time, "When Smokey Sings" was No. 8, and Smokey's "One Heartbeat" was No. 10. Smokey publicly called it a form of flattery.

"I've Never Been to Spain" written by Hoyt Axton, and his original lyric was "born in a coma", but it was changed to "not Arizona". Probably for the best. This band made the song known in 1972.

"Son of a Preacher Man" (1968) Originally written for Aretha Franklin in mind. Then decades later it got a second life when "Pulp Fiction" put it in front of a whole new audience.
