I booked all my air, ferry, vehicle, and lodging yesterday for 10ish days on POW in June. Not my usual wet-for-ten-days tent trip. I've been wanting MRS to come to Alaska with me for years and she has agreed to come along. We'll be glamping at a cabin in Whale Pass and I will be showing her the things I love about Prince of Wales.

I have a Spring Bear tag, so the rifle is coming along. If we bump one big and dumb I will take the shot. The cabin has meat processing and freezer.

June 6th-13th.

MRS is having a hip replacement when we get back. This is our first vacation together in a few years. FWIW - if you ever need a wheelchair on POW, there is a place in Klawock that will loan you one for free.

Wheels up at 0614 hrs.

More than the usual board stress as they saved my big oversized rolling RubberMaid tub for very last.

Paid over weight fees and it has my rifle bolt in it. All the fishing gear and misc gear too.

If they did load I paid money extra hassles. Plus a useless rifle in the SKB case.

All worked out.

Chilling in first class hoping MRS45 enjoys this trip. I will.

Got everything onboard ‘made it to SEATAC.

3 hour layover became 3 1/2.

Now will be a struggle to make the IFA to POW. Jettisoning all the Ketchikan activities for today.

Fingers crossed.

Jealous. I wish I’d deer hunted it years ago. I need to get back to Alaska to fill the freezer with fish

Just curious… Why did you separate your bolt from your rifle before putting it on the plane?
It’s the first time I’ve ever done that. It was discussed on a previous ahh thread and the idea seemed interesting.

TSA has changed their policies again? I did not have to open the case for them. When I went asked them about it, their response was “Only if we see an issue when we scan it..”.

That’s all fine except there is no closure that everything is accepted.
I was nervous until I saw it on the luggage conveyor going up into the plane.

I was the last to board while I watched them loading it through the terminal window.
