B tags question

I’ve tried several times to get this answer via email from Fwp but it’s been a week and I can’t get an answer so here it goes . This probably has been answered here before .... I got denied NR combo so I’ll be signing up for the alternates list , and putting in for some b tags , question - putting in for b tags in no way makes me ineligible for alternates list NR combo tag does it ?

Just bouncing ideas around for hunts next year... I'd like to get my wife a B tag (in MT) but I've never bought a B tag before. Is it like the permits where I the elk/deer combo is a prerequisite for being considered for the permit draw? Essentially is the elk/deer combo a prereq for the B tags or can I skip the March application and just apply for her B tag in at the June deadline?

It is a separate drawing. No general tag needed. Apps typically due June 1st and you gain bonus points if unsuccessful.
