Anyone subscribe to Huntin' Fool?

If you are totally green about the particulars in a new state, daunted by reading regs, maps, and draw odds, and have no luck making local contacts it might be worth trying out as a starting point. Personally, I think that research part is half the fun. I bought a subscription worth several years ago to try it out, only because Garth claimed if you got in now, you were good for $100 a year and that all new subscriptions would be $500 going forward. Of course, it never did go to $500.

He misses a lot of the real good stuff though and important details, but when you are Garth Carter and you are buying Governor’s tags, landowner permits, and taking advantage of great leases and guided hunt opportunities, why focus on the important details for us average guys?

A doctor in town has a subscription and I found it laying in his waiting room....they let me take the copy home, I did'nt think much of it...till I seen the subscription rates....no way I would pay for it.

MT MILLER, Let's combine Information on the Different States, The way to Get the Bonus Points, and Figure out what states are the Best BANG for the Buck. We can Put an "AVERAGE GUY to Out-ta State" post together and figure it out :)

I actually have a Copy but..... you know I don't red much I (Unlike 99% of the guys) buy playboy for the Pictures, not the ARTICLES :p

Forutunately Idaho is about the Easiest of all the states to Figure out. You just put in, and you don't get any Pref points :D

Miller,

I agree with GH, doing the research is part of the fun. I've read a few of Garths news letters but have never subscribed. He has some good information. I would rather apply to a non resident hunt with better drawing odds and get to hunt, then hold out for the world class trophy hunt and never draw a tag. A lot of these news letters funnel the "herd" into applying for only one or two units which makes drawing other units easier. JMO however.

A guy in the office has a subscription, but I'm thinking the only real value in it is for the cancellation hunts. He's gonna be letting it drop. Once you get a folio set up that tracks your applications/points/etc his service is not worth a whole lot.
